Intumescent Coatings

Intumescent and flame retardant coatings provide an appearance similar to that of standard coating finishes under normal conditions.

However, under excessive increases in temperature a chemical reaction occurs and the intumescent coating expands to many times its original thickness. This provides an insulating foam-like which protects the substrate.
