Wates Construction - Quadram Institute Bioscience

Project Details

Founded in 1968, originally as the 'Institute of Food Research' has now evolved into the Quadram Institute Bioscience, located in Norwich. The Institutes purpose is quoted on their website, as follows:

''The mission of the Quadram Institute is to understand how food and the gut microbiota are linked to the promotion of health and the prevention of disease, with an emphasis on diet- and age-associated diseases. We will use this knowledge to develop evidence-based strategies to  maximise positive impacts of food on health, from early life to the extension of a healthy lifespan in old age, and reduce the economic and societal costs of chronic diseases.''

Johns of Nottingham were appointed by Wates Constriction to undertake all aspects of painting works to every substrate of the building. The large project was split in to two parts. Firstly, we were assigned to decorate all non-specialist rooms (Reception, Hallways, Offices etc...) of the building including all walls, ceiling, doors and door frames. The specification requested by the client was Dulux Vinyl Matt, Diamond Matt, Diamond Eggshell and Sterishield Matt.

The second element of the project required Johns to protect & coat the science labs where all the experimental work is carried out. The products selected was from the Construction Specialities Group which included: Penetration primer, FG body coat, fibreglass tissue, Gelcoat, Wallglaze hygienic mastic, Armourglaze satin & Armourglaze topcoat.

On completion of the project, our client was thrilled with the works.
