Project Details

Centrepiece of the University of Leicester’s new, state-of-the-art Freemen’s Common Student Village, The new Teaching and Learning Centre will provide 9,000m² of flexible teaching and corporate services office space, fronting the proposed ‘Freemen’s Square’.

Two large lecture theatres of 600 & 250 capacity are provided from a central exhibition atrium space, with flexible flat teaching spaces for between 80-120 students on one side. As part of the mixed use masterplan, the teaching facilities and office provision will add much needed vibrancy to the new public realm and provided a landmark for the university, upon approach from the city centre.

Working alongside a multitude of trades, Johns of Nottingham applied acrylic durable matt to plasterboard walls and ceiling sin a mixed pallete of pastel & vibrant colours, with trim finished in matching acrylic durable eggshell, as well as a mineral-based paint system to exposed architectural concrete.
